The Engaging With Architecture Scheme (EWAS) was set up by In 2010 by the Arts Council in partnership with the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
Since 2012 the Scheme has been managed solely by the Arts Council. Emerging from research work and an evidence base the purpose of the Scheme was to support ambitious, innovative and creative, high-quality initiatives that specifically aim to enhance and extend the public’s experience of and engagement with architecture.
It remains the only Scheme in Ireland intended to support architects, artists, programers, venues, local authorities and curators who have the specific intention to share architecture with the public.
Emmett led the development of the Scheme as part of his role as Architecture Adviser to the Arts Council.
