The commission was from PIVOT Dublin and was to design and build the PIVOT POINT, a new mobile exhibition unit. Working to a tight programme and budget the idea was to make a timber and steel framework on which rotating and guest curated exhibitions would be hung.
Two wedge-shape and hinged frames are used to make a focus and a gathering space in any space in which the PIVOT POINT is placed. Hand built in Dublin in poplar, the inner frames are stainless steel which allow magnetised exhibitions to be erected and dismantled quickly. The PIVOT and Dublin City Council Logos are stitched in teal leather at the outer gable end. The unit is on castors and easily moved.
